Frequently asked questions.

I understand it’s not everyone’s first instinct to reach out directly to get an answer to those early fact-finding questions. So, I’ve compiled some of the most common ones below for you.

FAQs.

Who am I?

Fair question! I’m Adam (hi!). I’ve been working in creative content development since 2013. My work has taken me to some interesting places creatively and professionally. I’ve collaborated on a wide range of projects with some very exciting and diverse groups of people, including indie theatre and arts groups, local newspapers and radio stations, small but plucky ad agencies, and massive multinational global corporations.

What did all of them have in common? A passion for telling great stories and a drive to really reach their audiences on a personal level.

What are my qualifications?

I am terminally curious and hate sitting within one medium for too long. This personality trait has led me to walk a lot of different roads and develop a pretty wide-reaching set of skills. Content creation and copywriting, theatre and filmmaking, podcasting, reporting, and the odd bit of event and production management - if it’s a means of expressing important messages and telling exciting tales, I am ready and willing to give it a go.

I sat my undergraduate degree in English and New Media at the University of Limerick, where I studied a wide range of academic, literary, and media disciplines. I also studied abroad for a time at Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden. All going well, I will also have earned an MA in Journalism by the end of 2022.

Can I help with your project?

Almost certainly. As you’ll see elsewhere on this site, I’ve got a fairly diverse background when it comes to verticals I’ve written in and for: film and television, video games, news, tourism, social media, retail, technology, cybersecurity, medical devices, EU regulation, legal, finance, and more.

I’m a big advocate of the idea that a good writer can write on just about anything with the help of some solid research. If there’s an area or topic I’m not familiar with, that only makes me more enthused to jump head-first into it. I’m a research and story-driven writer; if there’s an exciting message or idea to get out there, I’m all over it.

How long does the content creation process take?

How long is a piece of string? Timelines depend entirely on the scope and complexity of your project. Are you looking for a 150-word App Store description? I can probably get that to you within the same day. Are you looking for a fully-formed content marketing or social media strategy to drive sales over the busy holiday season? That’s going to take some lead time.

Not to worry though. Timeline, process, and delivery milestones are all set topics of discussion in my opening project consultation and follow-up sessions. You will be provided with a clear step-by-step plan for approval before any production phases begin.

How much do my services cost?

Hopefully less than you’d think. I design my rate card to be flexible according to your project’s scope, timeline, and load. Beyond that, depending on the nature of the project, my work is billed either hourly or by wordcount.

I’ve worked with my fair share of indie and startup businesses, so I’m always happy to provide special rates and discounts for newcomers with big ideas. I’m also open to discussing retainer or partnership rates for guaranteed regular to semi-regular collaboration.

Am I a native English speaker?

You bet I am. I was born and raised in Ireland and I’ve been writing professionally my entire career, I’m about as native as it gets.

Having worked with a number of non-native writers, translators, and content creatives over the years, I would be the first to try to quench the misconception that non-native should mean non-starter. However, there is no substitute for the kinds of innate, instinctive, and culturally-aware usage, turns of phrase, and idioms a native writer can bring to a project. Language is informed by culture, so it stands to reason that those brought up within the culture of a language will have the strongest and most innovative command of it.

Have I got a portfolio?

I sure do, and I’m more than happy to share it. As you can imagine, not every client, collaborator, or company likes their outsourced content shared freely online outside of the context it was developed, and I respect their wishes and right to privacy unreservedly. For that reason, I like to keep all corporate content strictly confidential. Any content that is not under embargo or NDA, I would be delighted to share directly.

If nothing else, I am also eager to keep collaborator’s content off my site so their (and my!) SEO performance isn’t penalised for what search engines can sometimes read as plagiarism due to duplication.

Let’s get started.
